Collection: Bongani Vincent

We are Bongani Vincent.

Our paintings are at once otherworldly and very much of this world, taking the viewer on surrealistic journeys through inward and outward dimensions.

We have spent our life dancing across many of humanity’s greatest divides, born into one world and finding our way within others. Our paintings reflect the multiplicity of all that we see, feel, and experience crossing between these different realms.

In our artistic practice, we explore the future of traditional African art forms. Our work is a study of the complex and evolving geometries that can be found in faces, their deeply emotive, brooding forms reflecting our struggles with self- understanding and self-actualisation.

Each painting comes from another dimension. We are a vessel for three other personalities from that dreamlike place in our subconscious: Anaah, Sen and Ruu. Anaah has trees for horns and is a master archer. Sen has no eyes and a massive Afro that covers half his face. Ruu wears the skull of a long- dead feline companion at all times. With fluid brushstrokes and vibrant hues, each of our personalities lend their own distinct character and energy to the process of creation.

Through our work, we assert the power of contemporary African art to transcend boundaries, to inspire introspection, and to render visible the boundless potential of the human experience.
