Collection: The Lost Apostles

Bongani Vincent’s 13 Apostles series is a dreamlike exploration of Afro-surrealism, delusion, spirituality, and erotic geometry. Drawing deep inspiration from the rich visual language of African mask forms and the spiritual vocabulary of the tarot, Vincent’s paintings create a bridge between the physical and the metaphysical. Each piece is a calculated blend of the geometric and the emotive, where structured lines collide with raw, subconscious energy to map out a world beyond the veil of ordinary perception.

Throughout 2025, the series took on a legendary status as it seemingly disappeared from the public eye. While a few isolated pieces occasionally surfaced at various shows across South Africa, the full collection remained elusive, leaving collectors and admirers wondering if the series would ever be reunited. However, in a significant turn for the South African art scene, the remaining five pieces have been recently rediscovered.
